SOUTH TEXAS SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES 2021-2022 CONCERT SEASON

All concerts are open to the public!

The South Texas Symphonic Orchestra has released its 2021-2022 concert season after cancelling last year’s season due to Covid-19. The orchestra has scheduled a performance at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 503 East Nueva, in San Antonio, Texas 78205. The brass section will collaborate with the San Antonio Choral Society in a thrilling reading of John Rutter's majestic Gloria! in partnership with the San Antonio Choral Society, directed by Jennifer Seighman.

On December 17, 18 and 19 the South Texas Symphonic Orchestra will join forces with the incredible San Antonio Youth Ballet for three dynamic performances of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker in the historic Scottish Rite Temple in San Antonio.

On February 24, 2022, the orchestra will once again present a series of children’s educational concerts in February on the campus of Texas A&M University at San Antonio at no cost to the schools. Last year, using the magic of live-streaming, we were able to broadcast our concert to over 3000 students directly into their classrooms!

Finally in May 2022, the orchestra will present the world premiere performance of Texas composer Leon Steward's 15th Symphony.

The orchestra is ecstatic to be back in the concert hall, says artistic director, Ronnie Sanders. “Our players and audiences were devastated when Covid-19 took away any chance for the orchestra to perform.

While we will still be observing appropriate safety protocols,” say Sanders, “we can finally rehearse together again and invite audiences come hear our concerts live!”

The South Texas Symphonic Orchestra is a member of the League of American Orchestras and the Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras and has recently received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Their conductor, Ronnie Sanders, holds a master’s degree in conducting from the University of Houston and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University.
